According to TMZ, multi-hyphenate pop singer Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky welcomed their first child. The baby boy was allegedly born in Los Angeles on May 13th. There was no name given.
The couple, who have been dating since early 2020, originally announced their pregnancy in January with a photoshoot in A$AP Rocky’s hometown of New York. Since then, the fashion tycoon and founder of Fenty Beauty has made headlines for her avant-garde maternity style of sheer lace, crop tops, and belly-baring ensembles.
The singer said to Vogue, “When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, There’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle. I’m sorry – it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing.” She further added, “I’m hoping that we were able to redefine what’s considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women. My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that. This time should feel celebratory. Because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?”
The birth comes less than a month after A$AP Rocky, alias Rakim Mayers, was detained on his way back from a vacation in Barbados in connection with an unreported shooting in November 2021. Mayers’ participation in the shooting, in which he allegedly fired several rounds at an acquaintance, grazing his hand, was being investigated by Los Angeles police.
