Richa Chadha urges for “fast reforms” in Bollywood

In her recent Instagram story, Richa Chadha speaks out about the treatment of new actors in the industry who wants “fast reforms”

Richa Chadha has been one such actress in Bollywood that always surprises us with new characters in her films. She likes to break the set rules and stereotypes in every way possible. Richa entered Bollywood with Dibakar Banerjee’s Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! in 2008 with the supporting role of Dolly. But her major breakthrough came into the 2012 crime saga, Gangs of Wasseypur Part 1 and 2. She played the role of Nagma, a housewife whose life is portrayed from her marriage to her death. The film opened the door of Bollywood for film and her later performances fixated her as an impeccable actress.

But she made waves on social media with her recent Instagram story where she wrote about the struggles of a newcomer in Bollywood. She wrote, “Bollywood’, an imaginary address between Bandra and Goregaon. Here when people need you to do something that’s detrimental to you/your health/your career, they’ll tell you how good it is for you and be confident that you’ll believe them. I used to believe them when I was naive.”

Later in her story, she exposed the hypocrisy of some media people who pretend to care about outsiders by writing on nepotism. She added, “Some press peeps will write long pieces about how nepotism ruins the industry while creepily following every pre-pubescent with a famous last name, and dissing any self-made professional in their mediocre writing, on the pretext of ‘freedom of expression’. Must reform faster, if it has to survive the onslaught of OTT, VR and everything in the future. Plz smell the coffee.”
