In 2022, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh got caught in a controversy after a nude photoshoot was published in a magazine. These photographs attracted a wide spectrum of reactions, as well as a police report.
Surprisingly, these photographs have resurfaced, this time owing to American singer Sufjan Stevens. One of these photographs was picked by the music phenomenon as the thumbnail for his latest single “Javelin.” Watch below.
Ranveer’s controversial photographs, which were originally shot for Paper Magazine, were made public on July 21, 2022. Ranveer can be seen in these images wearing nothing.
Notably, one of the photos shows him naked on a rug, duplicating the iconic photograph made famous by Burt Reynolds. Paper Magazine, interestingly, is the same newspaper that generated a stir in 2014 with its iconic Kim Kardashian Champagne photograph, which captivated the internet.

Despite breaking stereotypes, Ranveer Singh got involved in legal troubles after a FIR was filed against him. This complaint resulted in the filing of a FIR at the Chembur Police Station. According to sources, the case was begun in response to a complaint from a member of an NGO who claimed that the actor’s nude images offended women’s feelings.
The Mumbai Police responded by filing a FIR, invoking various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 292 (pertaining to the sale of obscene material), 293 (relating to the sale of obscene objects to young individuals), 509 (relating to actions intended to insult a woman’s modesty), and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.
Ranveer responded by presenting his testimony to the Mumbai Police. He said that an unknown person tampered with and manipulated one of the images.
