Actress Rakul Preet Singh who was last seen in Manmadhudu 2 alongside Nagarjuna Akkineni is all set to make a comeback in the Tollywood industry. According to Pinkvilla, the actress said ‘yes’ to play the role of Olympic weightlifting medalist Karnam Malleswari for her biopic.
Before Rakul, if rumours are to be believed, Taapsee Pannu and Nithya Menen were supposed to play this role. When Rakul first heard the script, she immediately agreed to play the role. Although an official announcement is yet to be made. The film will be directed by Sanjana Reddy and financed by Kona Film Corporation. The dialogues are written by Kona Venkat.
Earlier media reports said that the movie will revolve around Karnam Malleswari’s life rather than focusing on her winning the medals. But looks like, the film will be something more than what audience can search on the internet.
On the work end, Rakul Preet Singh worked in Indian 2. Directed by Shankar, the film has Kamal Haasan as the lead actor. Kajal Aggarwal is another female lead and Siddharth will be seen playing a key role in the film. Financed by Lyca Productions, the film is the sequel to the 1996 film Indian, which was about an ex freedom fighter’s struggles to eradicate corruption in the country.
