Rajinikanth won’t enter politics due to ill-health, says ‘Please forgive me’

Rajinikanth announces that he won’t be entering politics citing health reasons. This comes two days after he was discharged from Hyderabad hospital after suffering from high blood pressure.

Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth who was all set to announce the launch of his political party on 31st December, on Tuesday, announced that he will not be entering politics citing health reasons. “With extreme sadness, I say that I can’t enter politics. I alone know the pain I went through while announcing this decision,” he said in his statement.

This announcement by Rajinikanth comes after he was discharged from a hospital in Hyderabad two days ago. He had been hospitalised after suffering from high blood pressure. The actor underwent treatment for three days before he returned to his Chennai residency on Sunday. He was in Hyderabad shooting for Annaatthe before he was hospitalised.

In his statement posted to his Twitter account, Rajinikanth said that he takes the recent development over his health condition as a warning from God and therefore will not participate in the 2021 Tamil Nadu elections.

The statement read, “Without entering electoral politics, I will serve the people. This decision of mine will disappoint my fans and people but please forgive me.” He also mentioned that doctors advised him against venturing into politics in view of his kidney transplant in 2016 and the current Coronavirus pandemic.
