Surinder Shinda, a well-known Punjabi singer whose lyrical voice captivated listeners of all ages, passed away on Wednesday after a protracted illness. He was 64.
After being hospitalised for almost a month, the seasoned performer passed away in Ludhiana’s DMC Hospital.
‘Jatt Jeonah Morh’, ‘Putt Jattan De’, ‘Truck Bnilliya’, ‘Balbiro Bhabhi’, and ‘Kaher Singh di Mout’ are some of his biggest hits.
Shinda gained notoriety in the 1970s and is renowned for his deep voice and distinct approach to performing folk melodies. Songs like “Navan le leya truck” and “Putt Jattan de” showed his talent for connecting with listeners through timeless melodies and remained popular decades after their releases.
Shinda was a talented guitarist and songwriter in addition to singing. His compositions showed that he had a thorough awareness of Punjabi culture and history.
Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, tweeted his condolences and stated that he was “extremely saddened to hear the news of Surinder Shinda ji’s death.” Punjab’s voice is now permanently mute.
