Celebs from Film and Music industry expresses grief over Legendary classical vocalist Pt. Jasraj’s death.

Legendary classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj passed away on 17th August, 2020 at the age of 90 in New Jersey, America. Following the heartbreaking news, the entire film and music industry mourned the loss. Celebs such as Kangana Ranaut, Shankar Mahadevan, AR Rahman, Vishal Dadlani and many others took to their social media hadnles and expressed their sadness over the death of Shri Pandit Jasraj.

Kangana Ranaut’s tream on Twitter shared two tweets. In the first tweet, the team wrote, “What a big loss #PanditJasraj.”In another tweet the team shared a video of Hanuman Chalisa which is sung by Panditji and Shankar Mahadevan. The tweet read as, “In every challenging situation in life where I feel unsure and overwhelmed I listen to this, he may not know what his voice means to me but my dream of meeting him some day lies shattered today #PanditJasraj.”

Vishal Dadlani, from Vishal-Shekhar also expressed his grief on his Twitter handle over the death of Shri Pt. Jasraj.He wrote, “ Just heard of the passing of the Legendary #PanditJasraj Ji. My condolence to music itself, and to every musician on the planet. A truly monumental loss. My heart goes out to my friends Jatin & Lalit Pandit, Shweta & Shraddha Pandit & of course
@DurgaJasraj ji, and the family.”

Music Composer-singer Shankar Mahadevan in his tweet wrote, “Devastated after hearing the news that Sangeet marthand pandit Jasraj has moved on to the next dimension . A big void in the world of Indian Classical music . His music will live on in this planet”

Legndary A.R Rahman also took to his Twitter handle and paid a tribute to Panditji by writing,” #RIPPanditJasraj indian classical music has lost one of its shining stars”

Singer Adnan Sami, shared a picture of Pt. Jasraj on his Twitter handle and wrote, “I’m devastated by the news of the “Light Of Music”, our beloved Legend of Legends Pandit Jasraj’s demise… Today, the world of music is darkened as it’s brightest light has faded. A giant of a musician who was blessed with divinity in his voice. A father figure for me.. RIP”

Salim Merchant from Salim-Sulaiman also wrote for the legendary classical vocalist. His tweet read as, “Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj ji has left us.. his voice & music has inspired & left a deep impact on the history of Indian classical music. Om Shanti #RIPPanditJasraj”

‘Panga’ actress Richa Chadha wrote, “thank you for the music Pandit Jasraj. An era has ended. Condolences to the family.”

Singer Shashaa Tirupati also expressed her grief and wrote for Pt. Jasraj. She wrote, Rest In Peace, Pandit Jasraj Ji .Forever grateful for everything your guidance lead to #panditjasraj #rippanditji #sangeetmaartand”

Pandtiji belonged to the Mewati gharana. With a career spanning over 80 years, he received various prestigious awards and honours including Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. His performances of classical and semi-classical vocals have become albums and film soundtracks. Jasraj has taught music in India, Canada and the US.
