One of the top Hollywood producer Carol Baum, who has backed films like ‘Father of the Bride’ and it sequel, claimed that the ‘it’ girl of Hollywood, Sydney Sweeney “can’t act” and “isn’t pretty” during a recent discussion post the screening of her 1988 film Dead Ringers, as per Daily Mail.
Last week, in New York, at Jacob Baum Center, the producer said, “I don’t get Sydney Sweeney.”
Baum, who executive produced her first film in 1984 said she came to this realization when she saw Sydney’s recent movie Anyone But You on an airplane. She explained, “I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’ talking about her.” She also described the romcom as “unwatchable.”
The veteran producer also stated that her students at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts failed to provide a satisfactory answer why the 26-year-old was being so sought after.
She recalled, “I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’ Nobody had an answer.”
However, despite of her disinterest, Baum admitted that she would not mind producing film with the actress, if her presence meant the project would get the go-ahead.
