Filmmaker Prakash Jha is known to work on hard-hitting concepts on his films. From Gangaajal to Rajneeti to Satyagraha, his films speak about the socio-economic issues that our country is facing. This time, he talks about the flaws in our educational system. The film, Pareeksha, focuses on the struggle of the rickshaw puller to provide education to his child.
According to Mid-day, Prakash says, “Our system favors those who already have everything; power and money to access the best education,” while talking about his film that is based on a real life story. He also shared his views about how the classes have been shifted online and how the privileged ones can benefit from it. He says, “The masses in small towns don’t have smart phones. How will they be part of digital education? What will [a labouring] father, who may not have the means to pay even a Rs 10,000 fee, do?”
He further talks about how every student should get opportunities, regardless of their wealth, “If you don’t create opportunities for a poor child, how will he even compete?”
The Adil Hussain, Priyanka Bose, Sanjay Suru and Shubham Jha starrer showcases the experience of IPS officer Abhayanand Singh, who taught the under privileged students for various entrance examinations.
