Pornographic film case : Bombay HC rejects Raj Kundra’s plea challenging arrest, refuses release from custody

Justice AS Gadkari said that “The custodial remand by the Metropolitan Magistrate is by the law and no interference is required”.

The Bombay HC on Saturday dismissed petitions challenging the arrest and custody orders of businessman Raj Kundra and his accomplice Ryan Thorpe. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra is behind bars for making obscene films.

Raj Kundra’s troubles are increasing day by day after new revelations are being made in this case. Raj Kundra had challenged the arrest by the Mumbai Police as illegal. But Raj did not get any relief from the High Court as the court has rejected his petition.

The Bombay High Court had on August 2 reserved the order on a petition challenging the arrest by the Mumbai Police. On 7 August, Justice AS Gadkari gave the verdict, Justice AS Gadkari said that “the custodial remand by the Metropolitan Magistrate is by the law and no interference is required”.

On July 29, the court heard the arguments of the lawyers of both of them on the bail of Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe. Raj Kundra’s lawyer had said that he has been wrongly arrested. At the same time, the police said that Raj had refused to sign Section 41 (A) of CrPC, after which he was arrested.

After being arrested for making obscene films, many models and actresses have made serious allegations against Raj Kundra. In this case, on Friday, Sherlyn Chopra was summoned by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police. During this, he was interrogated for about 8 hours. Sherlyn Chopra had also lodged an FIR in April regarding the sexual harassment of Raj Kundra. Sherlyn had alleged that she talked with Raj Kundra. In connection with a business deal but the two argued over the phone message. After this Raj Kundra came to her house and forcibly kissed her.
