Om Raut compares Prabhas with Salman Khan while reflecting to Adipurush controversy for the first time

Director Om Raut was shelled with admiration and praises when he directed Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan starrer Tanhaji: The Great Warrior. He further gained recognition and sent his fans into frenzy when Adipurush was announced. However, the Ramayan adaptation starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif did not seem to impress the critics and audience. Now, close to a year after the release of his film, Om has finally piped up and spoken about the controversy encasing his film Adipurush and in fact tagged the leading man of the film Prabhas as a ‘flop-proof star’.

In conversation with Marathi chat show host Amol Parchure for his podcast Catch Up, Om, while talking in Marathi said, “In the case of ‘Adipurush’, the revenue was huge. The film did Rs 70 crore in India alone on the first day. Our box office still did Rs 400 crore [despite criticism]. So, the numbers are very large. It did so well at the box office.” The filmmaker went on to add that there was a loss of perception when it came to Adipurush. He added, “Had we not lost on the perception, we would have seen exorbitant numbers which we didn’t see.”

Speaking about the leading man of the film, Om lauded Prabhas and compared him with Salman Khan for being ‘flop-proof’ because of their huge fan-following. He attributed this to the image they have built over time, saying their image is never affected by a few flop films. “Actors like Prabhas and Salman Khan are flop-proof stars. They have a big following, a certain perception and a certain image that doesn’t get affected by some flops. They are just beyond.”
