Stunning Sushmita Sen is gearing up for her major come-back through Hotstar Special series ‘Aarya’ which is helmed by talented director Ram Madhvani. She will be seen playing the protagonist in the thriller series and we can’t wait anymore to feel her strong presence on screen.
It has been a decade since we have seen this gorgeous actress in action but lately, she was in talks for returning to celluloid and in a bundle of scripts, she found Ram’s story compelling and fit for a strong come-back.
But did you know that Ram Madhvani initially wanted to cast Tanhaji actress Kajol for Aarya?
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Ram wanted to helm a feature film starring Kajol before it fell off to Sushmita’s lap in the form of a series. “When Ram Madhvani was planning this project – a remake of the 2010 gritty drama series Penoza, it was originally being made into a Hindi feature film. Kajol was his first choice and they were in advanced talks with the actress for the film. She had loved the concept and the storyline but had to step out last minute citing personal issues. That had also put Ram’s dream project under a bit of a scanner since it delayed the process a bit.”
After Kajol turned down the project, Ram thought of Sushmita for this series. “Aarya has the female lead playing the central protagonist and he wanted someone who has a commanding screen presence and is also a terrific performer. That’s when he thought of Sushmita and offered it to her. Among the many offers that she had, Sushmita liked this the most and then, it was decided that it would be made into a digital series with Hotstar coming on board. Sushmita did take her time but eventually gave a green signal to Ram”, reported by the same portal.
Ram Madhvani is known for his debut directorial venture Neerja featuring Sonam Kapoor which continued to bag a National Award for Best Film in 2017
