A theft of Rs. 40 lakh has been reported from the Mumbai office of Pritam Chakraborty, as per police officials on Sunday.
The incident came to light when the amount, which kept in the office by the music composer’s manager, went missing, said Mumbai police.
A complaint has been ledged at Malad police station by Pritam’s manager, Vineet Chheda, which stated that the money was brought to office a few days ago for work-related purposes.
Chheda received the amount and kept it in the office, where an employee named Ashish Sayal was present at the time. The manager later left for Pritam’s residence to get some documents signed.
When returned to the office, he noticed that the bag containing money was missing. He was informed by other office staff members that Sayal took the bag with him, and had claimed that he will be delivering the bag to Pritam’s house.
However, when Chheda attempted to call Sayal, he phone was switched off.
He then visited Sayal’s residence but found him missing. Following this, the manager approached Malad police station and lodged a complaint.
The case has been registered by police and they have launched an investigation into the matter.
