A video featuring actors Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi dressed as Munnabhai and Circuit has gone viral, fueling questions about the third instalment of one of India’s most successful film franchises.
Sanjay Dutt, who plays a quack doctor in the 2003 film ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.,’ was spotted wearing an orange shirt. What adds to the suspicion is the presence of director Rajkumar Hirani, who can be seen on sets in the viral video while the ‘Munnabhai’ title track plays in the background.
The filmmaker can also be heard saying, “Munna is back!” Arshad Warsi, in the role of Circuit, appears and greets everyone shortly and hugs Sanjay Dutt. Rajkumar Hirani can be heard saying in the video, “And we are back.”
A closer look, however, suggests that the viral video was created to generate interest for an upcoming ad, which could be based on Sanjay Dutt’s persona as Munna Bhai the doctor, as the orange shirt and gold chain resembles the first instalment of the franchise.
According to Times of India, this was an ad film shoot for a hospital brand. The report further stated, “Not many are aware that Rajkumar Hirani is one of the best directors in the ad industry. In fact, all three of them had also come together a few months back to shoot a bunch of advertisements for a Dubai-based realtor, and they revolved around the chemistry between the two lead actors.”
Arshad Warsi previously stated in an interview that the reason for the third instalment’s hold-off, despite the fact that the producers and performers are ready, is because Rajkumar Hirani is a crazy perfectionist. He went on to say that Hirani had three outstanding scripts, but there were some flaws. As a result, he will not begin filming until he is 100-200 percent sure of the script.
Arshad added, “When you ask him, he will always say yes, never say no. He will say ‘main kar raha ho.. ek baar script fix ho jaaye na, mujhe yeh pasand nahi woh pasand nahi.”
Meanwhile, Sanjay and Arshad will appear in ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ alongside Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Disha Patani, Raveena Tandon and Jacqueline Fernandes.
