Sonali Phogat the winner of 2019 Haryana election from Adampur as a BJP candidate, against the Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi, passed away on Monday 22nd August. The reason for the sudden death was addressed to be a severe cardiac arrest when she was informed of feeling unwell at ‘Curlies’ restaurant in Anjuna and was then taken to St. Anthony Hospital in North Goa.

Noted, Goa Police Chief Jaspal Singh stated “There are no external injury marks on the body,” while senior police official Jivba Dalvi said, “Prime facie, the cause of death is established as heart attack but further medical examination is on,”

The post-mortem report of Phogat filed by forensic experts Dr Mandar Kantak and Sunil Chimulkar reveals “multiple blunt force injuries” on the body, but also adds that the proper cause for that is yet to be investigated.
On the other hand, her family claims a foul play in this death as Phogat’s sister was informed about the food that she has eaten in a call on Monday. After her death, Pramod Sawant claimed that Phogat had died of a heart attack, even as the deceased’s brother Rinku Dhaka claimed it a murder.
