Trisha Krishnan was born on the 4th of May, 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She was born to a Tamil Palakkad Iyer family. She had ambitions of being a criminal psychologist but this changed after she won the Miss Chennai contest in 1999 soon, she finished her education. In 2000 Trisha was featured in many adverts as well as acted a role in Falguni Pathak’s hit video single “Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye”.
Trisha started work as an actress by playing a small part during a romantic drama of 1999 titled Jodi before being promoted into leading actress opposite Tamil superstar Suriya in another one, Mounam Pesiyadhe, which came out two years later. After that first break, she has since appeared on various hit Tamil and Telugu movies including Varsham; Ghilli; Aayutha Ezhuthu; Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa; Bodyguard as well as ‘96 among other titles all over the years. She only featured in her maiden Hindi movie in 2010, called Khatta Meetha starring besides him”
During the past two years, Trisha starred in three highest-grossing films of her career as a leading actress. Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Ponniyin Selvan 2 were two of the three films where she appeared as Kundavai directed by Mani Ratnam in 2022 and 2023. The two movies together accumulated more than 800 crores worldwide. She also featured in action thriller Leo (2023), which grossed slightly over 600 crores at the worldwide box office.
On reports, she charges Rs 10 crore for a movie and is one of the highest-paid actresses in south Indian film industries. She had been engaged to Varun Manian, the Chennai-based business man, since January 2015 but it took five months before she revealed that they broke up.
Meanwhile, at work, Trisha is going to act in a Tamil language thriller called Vidaa Muyarchi alongside Ajith Kumar. After several delays, the movie will hit cinema halls on Diwali 2024. In addition to this project, she has a Malayalam action-thriller known as Ram ready for release. Scheduled to be released in cinemas on Christmas this year, it stars Mohanlal. It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Trisha is also going to make an appearance in Thalapathy Vijay’s science fiction action film The Greatest of All Time that is expected to hit in September 5.
