Marvel, known for their superhero movies are all set to cast Iman Vellani in their first Muslim superhero series, named as Ms Marvel. Kamala Khan aka Ms Marvel, first appeared in 2014 and is the first Muslim character to have her own title and her own comic book series. She is a Pakistani-American teenager based in New Jersey, who looks up to Captain Marvel for inspiration.

The actor hails from the Toronto area and a year ago took part in a Toronto International Film Festival committee. She will headline her own Disney+ series, which will appear on the big screen in Marvel films, alongside other heroes. This will be the Canadian actor’s first big Hollywood project. Marvel had announced the series in 2019 during D23 Expo and recently named Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon as the directors of the project.

Eternals actor who himself was born in Pakistan, Kumail Nanjiani took to Twitter to welcome Iman to the Marvel family. He said, “I just saw they cast Ms. Marvel and legit got teary-eyed. Congratulations Iman Vellani! Your work is going to mean so much to so many people, myself included. I can’t wait.”
