Mariah Carey and her longtime partner Bryan Tanaka are reportedly calling it quits on their romance. By mid-November, Tanaka had unexpectedly ceased going to her Merry Christmas One and All! tour, sparking rumours that she and the backup dancer, 54, had broken up. Astute social media users had already noticed the couple’s absence from significant events and their lack of social media presence before the news was officially announced.

According to a source close to Page Six, the couple’s dissolution was caused by their divergent life goals. According to the source, one of the main reasons for their breakup was the significant 14-year age difference between Tanaka,40, and Carey, 54. The insider claims, “He wants to start a family. She is not at that place. In case you missed it, Moroccan and Monroe are the couple’s two children from their previous marriage to Nick Cannon. Tanaka, though, is childless.

The mother of two was previously spotted in Aspen on holiday without her partner. This was unusual because, over the previous seven years, there had been very few occasions in which the two had not gone on vacation together. The relationship collapse rumours were only fueled by Carey’s admission to People earlier this month that she had a challenging year.

The Songbird Supreme said, “I’ve been looking forward to this Christmas for, like, the whole year. Since last year — because last year wasn’t the greatest. I’m thankful for them all, but it wasn’t my most fun version of Christmas ever.”

Upset fans vented their frustration on Twitter. “It is unfortunate to learn about Mariah Carey and Bryan Tanaka’s separation,” a commenter commented. Relationship difficulties can arise from age disparities and conflicting objectives. Some people asked if Mariah Carey would be spending the holidays alone. “What’s wrong with wanting a family? That’s sad.”
