Noted On Friday, Marathi actor and director Ravindra Mahajani was discovered dead in his leased flat in Pune. After neighbours complained about a ‘foul smell’ emerging from the unit, his lifeless bones were retrieved from a residence in Pune’s Talegaon Dabhade neighbourhood.

It should be noted that Ravindra Mahajani is the father of television actor Gashmeer Mahajani, who rose to prominence after appearing in the Hindi daily soap ‘Imlie’ and the reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’.

According to police, Mahajani, 74, had been living alone in the Pune flat till his untimely death.

According to sources, Mahajani had been sleeping in a rented flat at Xrbia society in Ambi of Talegaon Dabhade for the past eight months.

On Friday, Mahajani’s neighbours noticed a terrible odour coming from the flat and, after receiving no reaction from inside, decided to call the cops at 4:30 p.m.

A squad from Talegaon MIDC police station soon arrived on the scene and forced through the house door, only to find Mahajani’s dead inside.

Mahajani is believed to have died two to three days before his body was discovered, according to authorities.

Mahajani’s family has been told of his tragic passing, and his lifeless remains have been transported to the hospital for a post mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Mahajani was a well-known and respected actor in the Marathi cinema industry. He was dubbed the “Vinod Khanna of the Marathi industry” because of his attractive appearance and attitude.

‘Duniya Kari Salam’ (1979), ‘Mumbai Cha Fauzdar’ (1984), ‘Zoonj’ (1989), ‘Kalat Nakalat’ (1990), and ‘Aaram Haram Ahe’ are among his films. The latter was a smash hit, while ‘Laxmi Chi Pavale’ was a box office smash.
