Mansoor Ali Khan has apologized to Leo co-star Trisha Krishnan after facing backlash for his derogatory comments on the latter. The actor released a statement on Friday saying that, “My co-actress Trisha, Forgive me. Let the god bless me by having me during your wedding.”
The All Women Police Station (AWPS), Chennai has summoned Khan for his misogynistic comments on the actress. But Mansoor released a statement saying that he needs some more time as he is suffering from a throat infection for the time being. A complaint was also lodged by the National Commission for Women. They have directed the Tamil Nadu police to file a case against him.
Mansoor Ali has been charged with IPC section 354 A (sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman).
The issue came to light with a video that showcased Khan talking about his co-star Trisha. He stated, “When I heard that I was acting with Trisha, I thought there would be a bedroom scene in the film. I thought that I could carry her to the bedroom just like I did with other actresses in my earlier movies. I have done rape scenes in a number of movies and it’s not new for me. But these guys didn’t even show Trisha to me on the sets during the Kashmir schedule,” as reported by Hindustan Times.
The video has gone viral in no time. For these sexist comments, Mansoor was condemned by Nadigar Sangam (The South Indian Artistes’ Association-SIAA). They had also demanded a public apology from Khan.
Reacting to the video, Trisha gave her remarks on X. She wrote, “A recent video has come to my notice where Mr. Mansoor Ali Khan has spoken about me in a vile and disgusting manner. I strongly condemn this and find it sexist, disrespectful, misogynistic, repulsive and in bad taste. He can keep wishing but I am grateful never to have shared screen space with someone as pathetic as him and I will make sure it never happens for the rest of my film career as well. People like him bring a bad name to mankind.”
Mansoor Ali Khan’s misogynistic statement have created a huge havoc on the internet. The actor faced immense backlash online. A few days back, he denied apologizing to Trisha. But after receiving arrest warrants from the police, the actor made an apology to his co-star.
