After Mallika Sherawat finished work on her digital show here, she travelled to Los Angeles in March to premiere her Rajat Kapoor-directed film RK / RKAY, which was only shown in theatres in the US and Canada.

In an interview with Bombay Times, Mallika Sherawat opened up about the halt of the release of movies due to the pandemic. When asked about how does she feel when most movie releases are delayed due to the pandemic, and ger upcoming RK / RKAY movie has been released in cinemas in Canada and the US. Mallika said, “It cheered me up a lot. I left India after finishing my web series. I am glad that this film is having a screening. We all love digital platforms, but nothing beats the joy of seeing them. A movie on the big screen. That release gave me something to look forward to these days.”

She further added, “The situation in Los Angeles is changing. People are cautious, things are still quite reluctant, if people or media ask me about the situation in India here, my answer is that it was difficult for us, but we are united as people and we will make it.”

On talking about her experience with Rajat Kapoor, the actress went on and described her experience. She added, “To answer your question, it’s hard to imagine Rajat and me together I am thankful to him for casting against type.”

Mallika further shared the changes she observed in the Film Industry. Mallika said, “When I played in Murder (2004), I was almost morally murdered by the scenes I shot. They saw me as a fallen woman. Today, those things I did back then are common in our films. People’s perceptions have changed. Our cinema has changed.”

According to Mallika Sherawat, she could only choose the best from what was offered. But now she believes, she is ready to start off on a new journey, ‘with the fingers crossed’.
