Actress Chhaya Kadam, whose Kiran Rao directorial Laapataa Ladies got selected as the official entry to Oscars 2025, has reacted to her other movie, All We Imagine As Light, not making the cut.
In an interview with India Today, Chhaya, who played the role of Manju Mai in Laapataa Ladies, expressed her happiness for film’s entry into Oscar, but also said that she feels bad for Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light.
“I am very happy and excited. What more can I say? It is a moment of pride for me that our film, Laapataa Ladies, got selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars. On the other hand, my other film, All We Imagine As Light, was also shortlisted by France as a potential submission for the Oscars 2025. I have come to Paris right now for the premiere,” said Chhaya.
On Monday, the Film Federation of India announced that Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao and backed by Aamir Khan’s production banner Aamir Khan Productions, has been selected as the official entry to Oscars 2025. The movie was selected from a pool of 29 movies, which included National Award winner Aattam, Cannes winner All We Imagine As Light, and Bollywood superhits Animal and Kalki 2898 AD.
