Kriti Sanon is all set for the release of her upcoming ‘Mimi’. In the film, Kriti Sanon is playing the role of a surrogate mother for which she gained weight. The actress informed that she couldn’t shoot for other projects as she had to lose weight for them.

Talking about putting on weight Kriti said, “I had to put on 15kgs in 2 months for Mimi which I could start losing only once I had completed the film,” via ANI.

“It made more sense to not take up any other project during the shoot and even till a few months after since I needed to lose the weight before starting any other project. I did let go of a lot of award show performances too in that period because dancing makes me lose weight very fast,” she added via ANI.

Kriti will be carrying the weight of this content-driven film on her shoulders, as she prepares to deliver one of her best performances yet, as she plays a different and mature role of a mother for the first time.

Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Pahwa, Sai Tamhankar, and Supriya Pathak also star in the upcoming film. ‘Mimi’ is a quirky storey about a feisty and carefree girl (Kriti) who becomes a surrogate mother to make money. ‘Mimi,’ directed by Laxman Utekar, will be released on Jio Cinema and Netflix on July 30. Along with Rohan Shankar, Laxman Utekar co-wrote the film’s storey and screenplay. The film is the remake of Samroudhhi Porey’s Marathi film ‘Mala Aai Vhhaychy!’ which was released in 2011.
