Kriti Sanon has switched up her recent monochromatic looks for a colourful ensemble. She’s moved on from the all-white textural fringe dress by the Paris-based luxury fashion house, Hervé Léger, and the retro-inspired look with extra-flared bell-bottom pants. Now, she’s sporting a lively, floral ensemble from Marques Almeida.
Kriti Sanon chose a corset in a bright pastel green with pink and purple floral accents, featuring an asymmetric neckline. Corsets are no longer reserved for theatrical costumes and have made their way into Indian wear too. A recent example is Alia Bhatt’s appearance at the 69th Filmfare Awards in 2024. She wore a custom couture ensemble by Anamika Khanna that prominently featured a corset, signaling its renewed narrative in the contemporary landscape of Indian fashion.
Styled by Sukriti Grover, the corset was paired with cargo pants in a coordinated print. Cargo pants have firmly re-established their place in the trend cycle over the past several seasons, recognisable by their baggy silhouette and multiple pockets. Popular in the ’00s, the utilitarian icon has gained popularity worldwide. The pants have found inclusion in collections of fashion houses like Dries Van Noten, The Attico, and Phoebe Philo.
Celebrities such as Dua Lipa, Emily Ratajkowski, and Hailey Bieber have all been seen wearing cargo pants quite frequently. In India, the combination of a corset with cargo pants has become a popular choice for stars like Ananya Panday and Janhvi Kapoor. Recently, Karisma Kapoor elevated the pants by pairing them with a tank top, transporting us back to the retro era.
