Celebrities are always in the centre of cyber issues. Fake accounts of celebrities pop-up now and then. Some fake accounts claim to be the celebrities themselves and use their names to gain a fanbase. In one such incident, recently, an imposter using an Instagram account in the name of Bigg Boss 13 contestant Koena Mitra, got the celebrity’s attention.

The actress wasn’t on Instagram before and decided to join the social media platform in the lockdown, but to her surprise, she found out that there is already an account in her name with more than 36000 followers. She went forward and filed an FIR against an imposter, who has been operating an account in her name.

In an interview with ETimes, the ex-Bigg Boss contestant revealed that she is not an active user of Instagram. The actress prefers Twitter to communicate with her fans. She also disclosed that she came across one Instagram account in her name being run by some imposter, even though the account doesn’t have a verified tick, it has gained over 35 thousand followers.

Koena said, “So since December, I was getting a lot of requests from my followers on Twitter to join Instagram but I was not up for it. But then last month, I thought of opening it since the lockdown is going on and everyone is free and active on social media. But then I found out there is already a fake account which is being run in my name which has more than 36k followers.”

Koena further revealed that when she tried to open a new account in her name, the imposter reported it online. “I then filed a cyber crime complaint against that person who had also mentioned his e-mail id. I want the police to take strict action against the same,” she added.
Earlier, the actress took it to Twitter to share a screenshot of the fake account and asked her fans to report the account, if they can. She wrote, “Guys, please report this account if you can. Thanks.” Take a look at her tweet below:
