On January 26, 2020, famous NBA player, Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, died in a helicopter crash. This heartbreaking news made it straight to the headlines with mourning spread all over the globe. As per the latest reports, late NBA player’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, has filed a lawsuit against an LA sheriff for allegedly covering up the photos of crash site. The helicopter crashed in Calabasas, California.

According to a report in New York Times, Vannesa has filed a lawsuit which seeks damages for negligence, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The report states that the lawsuit claims “no fewer than 8 sheriff’s deputies at the crash site, pulled out their personal cell phones and snapped photos of the dead children, parents and coaches. The deputies took these photos for their own personal gratification.”

Luis Li, the lead attorney in the lawsuit filed by Vanessa, said, “The lawsuit is about accountability and to  prevent the disgraceful behaviour from happening to other families in the future who may have suffered loss. ”

The reports say that the lawsuit alleges the authorities tried to cover up what their deputies did. So far, Sheriff Villanueva has accepted the presence of eight deputy officers who took and shared photos of the crash site as well as the victims. Villanueva also added that he ordered the deputies to destroy or delete the photos as soon as possible, and even stated that one of the photos was shared outside the department as well. The reports claim that the lawsuit has also alleged that one of the deputy officers showed a few of the photographs of the crash to a woman at a bar, and the bartender overheard them, who later went on to report this to the Sheriff’s department.
