Karan Johar has been leading the charge in launching up-and-coming stars to the Bollywood film industry in recent years like Janhvi Kapoor, Gurfateh Pirzada, Lakshya Lalwani, Dhairya Karwa, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra. In keeping with his tradition of hosting the premieres of new talent in Hindi cinema, Karan Johar is ready to bring Ibrahim Ali Khan to the big screen in a thriller that is based in Kashmir and co-stars Kajol and Prithviraj. That’s not all, though. Karan Johar is preparing to produce a romantic comedy starring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor.
Sources of the project claim that Karan Johar intends to star Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor in a full-fledged romantic comedy. A source close to the development revealed, “It’s being planned as a direct-to-digital project to be produced by his of wing, Dharmatics. The film will go on floors next year and will be directed by Shauna Gautam. The makers are in talks with a leading OTT player for streaming rights.”
The movie’s title hasn’t been decided yet, but the creators are already developing several oddball titles. It’s one of those romantic comedies that are popular in Hindi cinema. But Karan and the company believe that the narrative colour scheme works better on OTT than on the big screen. The source continued, “It’s planned and will be executed as an OTT original.”
Shauna Gautam will lead Ibrahim and Khushi
After Sarzameen and The Archies, respectively, this would be Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s second movie together. At this point in the pre-production phase of the movie, the producers are trying to assemble a reputable ensemble cast. For those who don’t know, Shauna Gautam collaborated with Karan on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani as an assistant director. On Sanju, the director also assisted Rajkumar Hirani in directing.
