Karishma Tanna wins Best Actress for ‘Scoop’ at the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards 2023 in Busan

In Hansal Mehta’s Scoop, Karishma Tanna portrays Jagruti Pathak, a crime reporter.

Scoop, a Netflix show, and its main actress Karishma Tanna were named winners of the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards 2023 on Sunday in Busan, South Korea.

According to its official website, the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards are an annual event that recognises outstanding content created for TV, OTT, and internet across Asia. Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and Korea Radio Promotion Association organise it.

While Scoop received the award for best Asian TV series, Tanna, who attended the ceremony, received the award for best lead actress.

The announcement was made on BIFF’s official X page. “The 2023 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards, the representative content event of the Busan International Film Festival that awards excellent TV, OTT, and online content across Asia, has announced this year’s winners and winners. Congratulations!” the festival said in the post.

Mehta, who created the series with Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul, expressed his excitement over the win. “We won! Best Asian TV Series at Busan. #BIFF23,” he wrote on the microblogging site.

Jagruti Pathak (Karishma Tanna), a renowned crime reporter for a Mumbai newspaper, gets headlines after she is suspected of murdering her competitor Jaideb Sen.

Mehta also helmed the critically praised Hindi language series, which debuted on Netflix in June. The programme, produced by Matchbox Shots in India, is based on Jigna Vora’s autobiography “Behind the Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison.”

The Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards 2023 took place on October 8 at the BIFF Theatre, Busan Cinema Centre, as part of the Busan International Film Festival, which runs between October 4 to October 13.
