Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar are the two filmmakers who have collaborated with some of the biggest stars of the industry. Hence, they are right to comment on all things related to films. Recently, the filmmakers discussed how an average movie lovers is burdened by high food cost at cinema halls which keeps them from going to theatres frequently. As per Karan, a family of four has to spend Rs. 10,000 if they want to go out for a movie.
In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, KJo noted that the rising food prices in cinema halls are pulling back the audience from watching movies on big screen.
The Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani director noted that parents feel bad denying their child of popcorn, when they visit a theatre. That is why, they choose to go to a restaurant, where they only have to pay for the food and not ticket prices.
The director-producer mentioned that people cannot afford to go to theatres and they would only go during Diwali or if they learn about some big blockbuster such as Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s recent movie Stree 2.
