Bollywood actor- turned- politician Kangana Ranaut sold her bungalow in Pali Hill, Mumbai, for Rs. 32 crore. Kangana bought the bungalow in 2017 for Rs 20 crore.
The actress, who is preparing to release her next film ‘Emergency’, had bought the bungalow in September 2017 for Rs 20.7 crore and later took a Rs 27 crore loan from the bank against it in December 2022. The actor was using the property as an office for her production house, Manikarnika Films.
As per the documents, the bungalow has a built-up area of 3,075 sq. ft. whereas the area for parking is 565 sq. ft. The deal was stamped on 5th September 2024 for which the stamp duty payment was Rs. 1.92 crore and Rs. 30,000 as registration fees. The documents identify the buyer as Shweta Bathija, a partner at Kamalini Holdings, headquartered at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. For the unversed, this is the same property which came under the scanner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, BMC in 2020. The BMC had demolished parts of Kangana’s office at Bandra in September that year on illegal construction.
The demolition was halted mid-way on September 9, after the Bombay High Court gave a stay order. Following this, Kangana filed a case against the BMC and demanded Rs. 2 crore as compensation. In May 2023, however, Kangana took back her demands of compensation.
