Indian actress and politician Kangana Ranaut offered prayers at the Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple in Karnataka. She shared pictures from her visit on Instagram, writing, “Aaj Kateel mein Devi Durga Parmeshwari ji ki darshan kiye aur pichle kal Kapu mein Maa Mariyamma ke pawan darshan hue.”

Located on an island in the Nandini River, the Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple is a revered pilgrimage site dedicated to Goddess Durga Parameshwari, worshipped in the form of an Udhbhava Moorthi (naturally formed idol). The temple is known for its exquisite sculptures and historical significance. According to legend, the demon Arunasura, empowered by a boon from Lord Brahma, became invincible to creatures with two or four legs. To end his tyranny, Goddess Durga transformed into a rock, from which an army of bees emerged and killed Arunasura, bypassing his divine protection.

Kangana, who recently attended the opening ceremony of Kapu Mariyamma temple alongside BJP National General Secretary B.L. Santosh, has been vocal about her spiritual beliefs. Her temple visits come amid her tenure as a Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, a position she has held since June 2024.

The annual festival of Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple, Brahmakalashotsava, is a major event celebrated in January-February. With her visit, Kangana continues to engage with cultural and religious traditions, aligning with her longstanding advocacy for Hindu heritage.
