After five years of legal proceedings, a settlement has finally been reached between Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar. The settlement was made before a Magistrate court in Bandra, Mumbai, on Friday.
Both the lyricist and the actor arrived at the Bandra Magistrate court around 10.30 am and entered the chambers of Magistrate Ashish Awari. They were accompanied by their respective lawyers, Jay K Bharadwaj and Rizwan Siddiquee.
After over an hour in the chamber, the lawyers stepped out to get some papers to record both their statements.
As per the statements, Javedji and Kangana have agreed to withdraw the defamation cases, they had filed against each other. While leaving the court, Javedji told media, “After all these years, the matters are finally settled. She has apologised for all the inconvenience caused to me. I will take back my case and she will take back her case.”
Upon being asked if he felt at peace now, the writer jokingly said, “I will pick up a new problem now.”
For the unversed, Kangana and Javedji’s legal dispute began when the two met at the latter’s residence in March 2016. Back then, the actress was in a public spat with Hrithik Roshan over their alleged exchanged emails. Since Javedji is close to Roshan family, he took it upon himself and intervened and asked Kangana to apologize to Roshans.
