John Abraham is back into Hindi cinema after a brief absence, with action-drama film Vedaa alongside actress Sharvari Wagh. The movie will be an action packed and full-blown gross out comedy. The actor who is currently occupied with the promotion of his movie, recently spoke about the phase when he was side-lined in the industry. John was last seen as the villain in Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan. Prior to that he was last seen in the lead role in Satyameva Jayate in 2018. Looking back at the four years of inactivity, he said he empowered himself and the movie going public to see him as a multidimensional actor instead of just an action star.

During his appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, the actor was asked why he decided to take up a producership. John said, “Because the movies I was doing and the movies I was watching, I was not happy (with them). I wanted to change things… Everybody’s life has an X and a Y axis. A Z-axis came into my life. Suddenly, people started seeing me as more than just a bulky guy. They began to believe that I had brains, too. They realised that I can make different kinds of films, like Vicky Donor, Parmanu, Batla House… The first defining point in my life was Jism, then Dhoom, and then when I became a producer.”

When the host questioned him if he is happy with his decision, the actor agreed to the fact that he is always happy and never feels insecure. He confessed that he went without a film job for four years until Parmanu remarking that a lot of newcomers had entered the industry.
