Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers come forward to pay employees during writer’s strike

The shows of Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers have gone dark, but they are assisting in keeping staffers’ lights on.

According to reports, NBC is paying employees on the shows till the end of next week, while Fallon and Meyers will pay employees for the third week. The employees of the shows would also have their healthcare benefits extended through September.

While their shows “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Late Night with Seth Meyers” are dark due to the current Hollywood writers strike.

Both hosts previously helped in paying their employees when they were unable to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

NBC employees were promised Wednesday morning during production calls that Fallon and Meyers would personally assist to keep them paid.

Meyers said on his show this week: “I love writing. I love writing for TV. I love writing this show. I love that we get to come in with an idea for what we want to do every day and we get to work on it all afternoon and then I have the pleasure of coming out here.”

He went on to say that no one is entitled to a job in show business. Those who have a job, on the other hand, are entitled to appropriate compensation. They have the right to a living. He considers the guild’s demand to be very reasonable. And he agrees with those demands.

The WGA’s 11,500 screenwriter members have refused to work after failing to reach an agreement with Hollywood studios on a new three-year contract. The writers demand pay raises and other benefits.
