Jaaved Jaafferi’s comment on reality show, The Tribe, which is streaming on Prime Video India, went viral after he mocked his daughter Alaviraa’s profession as a content creator and influencer. The actor recently reacted to his remarks and called iconic figures like Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi the real influencers.
In a conversation of Humans Of Bombay, Jaaved, when asked about his viral remark, admitted it was a “tongue in cheek” and nothing “below the belt.” He explained that how an individual from a village living in a small hut is trying to do something to seek validation. He added that he realized where they come from and it is their way of getting out of their “suffocating life.”
“I see someone dancing in a weird way, but I understand where they are coming from, and it’s emotional also because I know they are living a very difficult life. There is no appreciation, and they are looking for some kind of validation,” he said further adding not everyone on social media is for the purpose of monetization.
The actor questioned the content being made on social media where people turn around and their outfits changed, or someone is lip-syncing a song. He pressed the need to create something original.
