Ever since the trailer of Ananya Panday starrer CTRL has dropped, the internet users have been drawing parallels with Hollywood classic Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Her. In a recent interview with News18, the director Vikramaditya Motwane addressed the speculations and said that he was expecting a certain comparisons.
The plot of Ananya starrer revolves around the growing influence of artificial intelligence in the lives of youngsters.
“The moment we wrote the film, we knew that they’re going to ask us about Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. But we’re fine with it… There’s also a little bit of Her in it,” he stated.
For the unversed, Her was romantic science fiction movie, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson. Meanwhile, Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind starred Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey, and it was directed by Michel Gondry. Both the Hollywood films had won Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay.
Speaking further, the director shared that Michel’s film has been an inspiration to his life, but it is not the inspiration behind his film, CTRL.
The movie CTRL features Ananya portraying the character of a young girl, who has apparently given her life’s control to artificial intelligence after a traumatic incident.
