Here’s why Varun Dhawan is being replaced by Agastya Nanda in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming movie ‘Ikkis’

Sriram Raghavan stated that he wanted a new face and someone charming and tall; thus, he cast Agastya Nanda instead of Varun Dhawan.

Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda made his acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’, and the 23-year-old has now landed his second film. Varun Dhawan had previously signed on for Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Ikkis’; however, Agastya has not only replaced Varun in this project, but he will also have the opportunity to work with a well-known filmmaker.

Sriram Raghavan, the director of ‘Merry Christmas’, has cast Agastya Nanda in the lead role of his upcoming film, Ikkis.

Ikkis is a biographical film about Arun Khetrapal, the youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient. Sriram has indicated that the film does not delve into his early memories but rather focuses on a young cop who was killed just two months after turning 21. And he believed Agastya Nanda would be an excellent casting decision.

When asked about replacing Varun Dhawan with Agastya Nanda in ‘Ikkis’, Shriram Raghavan replied that Agastya appeared to be the best alternative for him to play Khetrapal. He added that Varun Dhawan was cast as the film’s star, but after COVID-19, they sat down and talked about why he was not a suitable fit for the role.

On the other hand, Sriram Raghavan said that he had chosen Agastya Nanda prior to ‘Archies’. The director required a new face for the film, someone handsome and tall, similar to Arun Khetrapal. The director also informed that Agastya is now training for his role and will start filming ‘Ikkis’ with the actor in February.
