
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an Indian filmmaker, director, producer, screenwriter, and editor. He was born on 24th in Maharashtra. He was honored with the Padma Shree by the government of India in the year 2015, which is regarded as the fourth highest civilian award of the Republic of India. He was also a part of the Film and Television Institute of Inda (FTII).
He made his first directorial debut with the musical Khamoshi: The Musical (1996) and received his first Filmfare award for best film (critics) for the same. He even has a BAFTA nomination under his name.
He has given the film industry some masterpieces like; ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Malaal’ and many more over the past decades. In 2019 he received the National Film Award for Best Music Director for his direction in the movie ‘Padmaavat.’
He is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India. He is also the founder of the production house Bhansali Productions.
Apart from being a famous filmmaker Bhansali even came on the television front and judged shows like ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 1; (2006), ‘X Factor India’ (2011), and ‘Saraswatichandra’ (2013-2014).
In 2021, Bhansali is coming up with Gangubai Kathiawadi, a biographical, crime film based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The film about Gangubai Kothewali, stars Alia Bhatt as Gangubai.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali spends most of his time reading poetry and listening to old songs.his all-time favorite movie is Mughal-E-Azam.
