After Sushant Singh Rajput’s sad demise, many big names like Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra were called out for nepotism and favouritism. Actress, Kangana Ranaut has stood up for Sushant and pointed out at all inequalities in the industry. In a recent interview, Kangana had called Taapsee Pannu as a ‘needy outsider’ which the fans refuted. Kangana has been called out by many fans and industry members for spreading hate and making Sushant’s death a personal vendetta.
In an interview with News18, Taapsee openly spoke about her verbal war with Kangana. She said it’s sad that people who do not belong to film families are tagged as ‘outsiders.’ She said that any outsider or insider, everyone has their path and different battles to fight. Moreover, she spoke about her struggle and gave a recent example. She said that she was dropped from ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ and that time she held her own. She said that she fought for herself and she didn’t get any help from anyone in the industry including Kangana who claims to help outsiders.
Taapsee quoted “Actors like me Kangana, Swara Bhasker, who are not from a film family. We are all outsiders and we have had our journey.” Talking about Kangana’s recent promises and accusations, she said everyone fights their own battles without support and even Taapsee did it herself. She quoted “I did not ask for support when I was fighting my battle. I spoke up when I was replaced in Pati Patni Aur Woh. Nobody, especially, she (Kangana Ranaut), because she says she fights for our battles, she didn’t come and support me, I didn’t ask for it also, because I fought my own battles. Deepika was asked to be beheaded somewhere, she didn’t come and support that outsider.”
Lastly talking about Sushant Singh Rajput, Taapsee said that she didn’t know him personally but knew their paths were similar. She said that both of them started as budding engineers and entered Bollywood in 2013. Taapsee said “He came via television, I came from the south film industry. Both of these are considered tags that need to be shed when you enter the industry. The kind of hardship that he has gone through, coming from Bihar, I don’t think a person like that can be so fragile. We have studied in schools right next to each other in Delhi. But I don’t want to talk about those similarities right now because I have never met that person. We have never even crossed paths at events. So I suddenly can’t get into the debate just to get my two bits of attention and try to have my personal vendetta.”
Taapsee and Swara have been very articulate and they don’t argue with Kangana as they want to create a calm and healthy environment. Swara and Taapsee have received a lot of love from the industry for their performances and candidness.
