Bollywood has a handful of talented actors. But aren’t we too familiar with some actors? Many actors, who lend the movie a fresh sense of legitimacy by playing supporting roles to the main characters, are overlooked. As the celebrities go with their enormous salaries, these performers gradually fade into obscurity.
Vikrant Massey
After kickstarting his career as a TV actor, Massey seamlessly moved into the film industry by backing Ranveer Singh’s character in Lootera. He gave a sincere performance, and Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film, Dil Dhadakne Do will feature him. He also performed remarkably in the latest OTT movie, 12th Fail.
Bhoomi Pednekar
She’s 2015 Bollywood’s best find. She defied all expectations of how a mainstream Hindi film heroine should look like to carry a “hit film” when she made her debut as the delightfully plump Sandhya opposite Ayushman Khurrana. Adequately supported by Ayushmann, Bhoomi captivated everyone’s hearts with her performance.
Adil Hussain
With his sardonic yet aristocratic middle-class English-Vinglish hubby, he won everyone over. A highly regarded character in the country’s theatre scene, he has also had a few supporting roles in films such as Life of Pi, Lootera, Kaminey, and The Reluctant Fundamentalist. He is a member of the same class as Nawazuddin Siddique and Irfan Khan.
Ali Fazal
Ali Fazal, who gained notoriety as the child who played the theme song “Give me some sunshine” in the movie 3 Idiots, has acted in numerous important roles in films that star Shahrukh Khan and the Bhatt family have promoted. In fact, he had a brief appearance in the sixth Furious movie.
Radhika Apte
She made a quiet, lovely start in Shor: In the City. She is well-known for her amazing contributions to regional cinema (Bengali, Tamil, Marathi). She then went on to star in films like Badlapur and the highly regarded Hunterrr. Hopefully, she will give many more outstanding performances before being labelled as a “art-house actress.”
