Fatima Sana Shaikh, who rose to fame with her stellar performance in Dangal, recently opened up on her journey in television and films. Reflecting on her early career, the actress recalled being a part of Chachi 420 and Ishq as child actor.
Fatima also spoke about her struggles as supporting actor, particularly in daily soaps. “When you are not the lead, the side characters, juniors, or those in smaller roles don’t receive the same respect or treatment. They are often treated poorly on set, almost as if they’re just there to sign in, like a daily attendance routine,” said the Ludo actress.
She expressed her disappointment at the lack of basic respect for smaller roles and supporting actors, sharing, “You might earn Rs. 1,500 per day, which at the age of 14 of 15, seemed like a lot to me. But even then, the treatment wasn’t good.” She added that it was hurtful to be treated as a second-class human being. Fatima believes that regardless of how small the role is, if a person is present on set, they deserve respect.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Fatima will be next seen in Metro.. In Dino. The movie, starring Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi, Anupam Kher, Konkana Sen Sharma, is being helmed by Anurag Basu.
