Farhan Akhtar postpones release of Toofaan amid COVID-19 crisis

Farhan Akhtar wrote on Twitter that Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra-directed film Toofaan would not be releasing on May 21 on Amazon Prime Video. Actor-producer Farhan Akhtar on Monday said the group of his up-and-coming sports drama Toofaan has chosen to concede the release of the film on Amazon Prime Video in the midst of the surge within the Covid-19 cases in India.

Akhtar took to Twitter and posted a note, informing fans that the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra-directed motion picture would not release on May 21 on the spilling platform. The film has been sponsored by Akhtar and maker Ritesh Sidhwani’s standard Exceed expectations Entertainment, along with Romp Pictures. “The circumstance in India is genuinely appalling, and we at Excel Entertainment and Romp Pictures send our thoughts and prayers to everybody influenced by the pandemic.

Akhtar said an update with respect to the film’s unused released date would be issued in “due course of time”. The 47-year-old actor moreover encouraged individuals to take after all Covid-19 rules and get vaccinated. Billed as a rousing sports show of a goon from the boulevards of Dongri, Toofaan is set against the scenery of boxing and charts the drop and triumphant comeback of its lead, played by Akhtar.
