The well-liked Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Andre Braugher passed away on December 11 at the age of 61. Two days later, his cause of death was made public, and it was discovered that lung cancer was his enemy. His diagnosis of this condition came a few months before he passed away. A “brief illness” was the first thing Andre’s publicist had mentioned, but she had withheld more information.
Andre’s brief sickness over the previous six months was previously reported to be the reason for his death. His three kids, Michael, Isaiah, and John, as well as his wife, Ami Brabson, survive him. The Classical Theatre of Harlem, where Andre Braugher was a board member, has been asked for donations from supporters instead of flowers.
Social media users and Andre’s former co-stars were quick to post tributes and monuments after his passing. Terry Crews, who appeared in Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Terry Jeffords, shared his sorrow on Instagram, saying, “I’m honoured to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you, and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent. This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much,” he wrote. “Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness, and your friendship. My deepest condolences to your wife and family in this difficult time. You showed me what a life well lived looks like. Rest In Peace, André. I love you, man.”
Terry Crews offered Andre’s family his sincere condolences and praised him for the priceless lessons, advice, and friendship. Melissa Fumero spoke warmly of Andre’s humour and said, “I will remember all the advice you gave me. I will remember all the times we laughed because your laugh was one of the greatest laughs to have ever existed. I will remember the deep love and loyalty you had for your family. I will remember it every time I ask work to make time for me to be with my family. I will remember how you sent me pictures of fall trees in NJ because you knew how much I missed that time of year back east. I will remember you calling me Melly Fumé. I will remember so much.”
Andre Braugher’s unmatched skill, generosity, and positive influence on those around him are being remembered by the entertainment community and fans alike in the wake of his passing.
