Emraan Hashmi feels happy that his films ‘Mumbai Saga’ and ‘Chehre’ released in theatres

In a recent interview with ETimes Emraan Hashmi expressed his happiness on two of his films releasing in theatres escaping the wrath of COVID-19.

Emraan Hashmi’s last release was ‘Chehre’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, Krystle D’Souza and Anu Kapoor. Unlike other films which took the shortcut way to release on OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Chehre hit the theatres on 27 August 2021. But this was not Emraan’s first film in the near times to release on theatres. His gangster film, Mumbai Saga too escaped the wrath of COVID-19 releasing theatrically on 19th March 2021.

While taking to ETimes Emraan expressed his happiness about these two films releasing on theatres and that these films were made for theatre, not for OTT. The actor said, “It’s a sense of relief because these films were shot towards the end of 2019 and 2020 and then the pandemic hit us and everything turned upside down but, these films were designed to release in the theatres. The way they’ve been shot, the way the production design is, the star cast, everything was designed for theatrical release. I’m just happy that they’re getting that avenue; a lot of films aren’t. They’re taking a short cut to OTT, but we felt that it should come out in theaters because that’s where it was meant to come out first. I’m just very happy that the producers will back these films, also backing the first theatrical releases and then OTT.”

When asked about what made him say yes to Chehre, the actor answered, ” Just seeing Amit ji’s process of how he conducts himself on the set and the dynamics he follows as an actor. As a student of acting, I wanted to learn that. That’s why I was drawn to do it.”
