Ayushmann Khurrana, a Bollywood actor, is scheduled to reprise his role as the naughty tele-caller ‘Pooja’ in his next flick ‘Dream Girl 2’. While the original ‘Dream Girl’ starred Nushrratt Bharuccha as the female lead and was a box office success, she has been replaced in the sequel by actress Ananya Panday.
Ayushmann will be seen romancing Ananya in ‘Dream Girl 2’ while also dealing with the fallout from his dual existence as Pooja.
While the producers have not revealed the reason for replacing Nushrratt, the actress has now come out and expressed her disappointment.
During a recent interview, Nushrratt stated that, while she adores the entire cast of the original ‘Dream Girl,’ she has no idea why she was not cast in the sequel.
She stated that the makers’ choice harmed her and was unfair to her. “But why they didn’t cast me in Dream Girl 2, I think only they can answer. I don’t know, there is no logic and there is no answer to it,” she said.
She went on to say that she had seen the ‘Dream Girl 2’ trailer and wished Ayushmann, Ananya, and the rest of the cast and crew the best of luck.
Surprisingly, Nushratt’s future film ‘Akelli’ will be released on the same day as ‘Dream Girl 2’, on August 25.
The actress revealed that the film clash was not planned and that her film was scheduled to be released a week earlier. However, due to Censor Board concerns, it had to be pushed back until August 25.
‘Akelli,’ directed by Pranay Meshram, features an ensemble cast that includes international talents such as Amir Boutrous and Tsahi Halevi.
