In a shocking incident, gunfire erupted outside the residence of Bollywood actor Disha Patani’s family in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, two unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire before fleeing the scene. Police later recovered two empty cartridges from the spot.
Gangsters Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara have since claimed responsibility for the attack through a social media post, where they alleged that the firing was carried out in retaliation to purported remarks by Disha’s sister, Khushboo Patani, about Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. The gangsters warned the Patani family and Bollywood industry figures in general, stating, “This was just a trailer. Next time, no one will be left alive.” They further added that they were willing to go to any extent to “protect their religion and society.”
Speaking to ANI after the incident, Disha’s father Jagdish Patani, a retired DSP, revealed, “Two unidentified assailants fired at my residence. I think 8–10 rounds were fired. I came to know through social media that Goldy Brar has taken responsibility but it is not clear yet. Bareilly Police, SSP, ADG are all working on it. The gunshots are not indigenous; they are foreign-made.”
He also clarified that Khushboo Patani’s remarks were misrepresented. “Her name was dragged into the matter of Premanand Ji Maharaj. We are Sanatanis, we respect the sadhus and saints. If someone is misrepresenting her statement, it is a conspiracy to demean us,” he said.
At the time of the incident, Disha’s parents Jagdish and Padma Patani, along with Khushboo, were present inside the house. The family was left shaken by the sound of continuous gunfire. Security has now been tightened in the area, with police teams deployed to ensure safety. Authorities have also obtained CCTV footage and formed five teams to track down the culprits.
