US-based Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has sparked fresh controversy by urging a shutdown of singer Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert in Australia on November 1, through his banned separatist outfit, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ).

In a fiery statement, SFJ accused Dosanjh of “insulting every victim, every widow, and every orphan” of the 1984 Sikh Genocide, claiming the singer disrespected their memory by touching the feet of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan during a recent public event.

Pannun alleged that Amitabh Bachchan had on October 31, 1984, “publicly incited mobs with the genocidal slogan ‘Khoon Ka Badla Khoon’ (Blood for Blood),” which he claimed fuelled widespread violence that killed over 30,000 Sikhs across India.

“By touching the feet of Bachchan — the man whose words orchestrated genocide — Diljit Dosanjh has insulted every victim, every widow, and every orphan of the 1984 Sikh Genocide,” Pannun said in the statement, calling for the event’s cancellation in Australia.

Background and Context

The controversy comes just days before November 1, which has been declared by Akal Takht Sahib as “Sikh Genocide Remembrance Day.”

SFJ, the organization behind this call, has been banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for its anti-India agenda and alleged efforts to destabilize the country’s unity. According to the Home Ministry, SFJ continues to engage in subversive and secessionist activities, often working in coordination with foreign militant networks.

Pannun, who is based in the United States, faces over 100 criminal cases in India, many of which are being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The Centre has repeatedly accused him of using propaganda and threats to stir unrest among the Sikh diaspora.

Current Situation

While Diljit Dosanjh has not publicly responded to the latest call by Pannun, his upcoming Australian show remains scheduled for November 1, with thousands of fans expected to attend.

Authorities in Australia have not yet commented on whether additional security measures will be implemented at the venue following SFJ’s provocative call for a shutdown.
