Legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra, aged 89, has reportedly been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for medical observation, sparking a wave of concern among fans and the film fraternity. The actor, fondly known as the He-Man of Bollywood, was taken to the South Mumbai facility earlier this week after feeling unwell.
As per reports, Hema Malini was seen visiting the hospital on Sunday, further fuelling speculation about the veteran star’s condition. However, shortly after rumours began circulating that Dharmendra was on ventilator support, his family and team dismissed the claims, assuring fans that there is “nothing to worry about.”
Speaking to India Today, the actor’s team confirmed that Dharmendra is under observation but stable, and his health is improving with regular monitoring. Similarly, Sunny Deol’s team refuted the ventilator reports, calling them “baseless rumours” and confirming that the actor is “getting better.”
A source close to the family told The Indian Express that Dharmendra has been in the hospital for nearly a week and that Sunny Deol visited him earlier in the day. The source added that if his condition were serious, the entire Deol family would have gathered at the hospital.
Following the clarification, fans expressed relief on social media, extending prayers and love to the veteran actor, who continues to hold a special place in Indian cinema.
On the work front, Dharmendra was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, and earlier in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. He will next appear in Sriram Raghavan’s war drama Ikkis, based on the life of Param Vir Chakra recipient Arun Khetarpal, starring Agastya Nanda.
