Dharmendra changes his name 64 years after making Bollywood debut – Find out

Dharmendra has decided to incorporate his middle name and surname, which he was originally given at birth.

Veteran actor Dharmendra, who has been in the Hindi cinema industry for 64 years, has altered his on-screen identity. The 88-year-old actor, who plays a major role in Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, changed his identity during the film’s credits scene.

Dharmendra has decided to incorporate his middle name and surname, which he was given at birth. He is known in the film industry as Dharmendra. For those unaware of his past, the renowned actor was reputedly born Dharam Singh Deol.

When Dharmendra entered the film industry in 1960, he chose to erase his middle name and surname. However, when his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol followed acting careers, they chose to keep their family surname.

Dharmendra hasn’t changed his name on X or Instagram yet. His official social media pages still display his name as ‘Dharmendra Deol’.

Meanwhile, at work, he played Shahid’s granddad in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The film was released in theatres on Friday (February 9) and has gotten mixed reviews from both critics and audiences.

The family entertainer revolves around Shahid and Kriti’s unlikely love tale set in the uncharted territory of artificial intelligence.

Dharmendra was recently seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, alongside Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Alia Bhatt, and Ranveer Singh. He will next be featured in Ikkis, alongside Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, Agastya Nanda.

The film is directed by Sriram Raghavan. The veteran actor also has Apne 2 in the works, in which he will rejoin Sunny

and Bobby. However, the filmmakers have yet to reveal any other information regarding the project.
