Back in January 2020, actress and producer Deepika Padukone was seen at the JNU protests few days before the release of her film Chhapaak. Deepika came to support the students who were harassed in JNU Attack for the Citizenship Amendment Act. Many people praised her for the support but many even decided to boycott her film. People thought she came there to promote her film and were hurt by it. Hence #BoycottChhapaak became viral on the internet.
Reportedly, an ex-RAW officer N K Sood claimed that Deepika went after businessman Aneel Mussarat’s request. He is known to be involved with the anti-India activities. He also claimed that Deepika was paid 5 crores for the same.
Now since the reports went viral, fans have been trolling her. Some people yet deny the accusations while some say they knew she had hidden reason to go there. On Twitter, she has been called anti-national and a viral tweet says “Repeat after me: Deepika took 5cr from Aneel Musarat for Anti National Activities.” People are also shocked that a woman who’s the highest-paid actress of Bollywood takes a hefty amount for such a sensitive event.

Deepika has also been questioned via her fans if she is ‘faking her depression story’ and making money out of it. She has also not said a word about Sushant Singh Rajput’s death which has made people think she monetises issues.
